NEW DELHI: Seven runs on a single delivery can only be scored when the batter hits a six and the ball turns out to be a no-ball, an extra run is added. But to everyone’s surprise, Matt Renshaw managed to score seven runs without hitting a four or a six himself.
The bizarre incident happened during Pakistan’s four-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XIat Canberra’s Manuka Oval.Renshaw, who was on 47, hit off-spinnerAbrar Ahmed across the covers as the ball went past Mir Hamza.

But he came up with a brilliant piece of fielding, making a full stretch dive to save a single run. He threw the ball at the non-striker’s end where Babar Azam collected it.
Babar then threw the ball thinking he had a chance to effect a run out at the striker’s end. But the ball went through between captain Shan Masood and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed before reaching the boundary ropes.
In a dramatic turn of events, Saud Shakeel swiftly retrieved the ball while Renshaw reached his half-century.
Talking about the match, Renshaw remained unbeaten on 136 and helped steer the home side to 367-4 at stumps, 24 runs behind Pakistan, who declared at 391-9 on the back of skipper Shan Masood’s 201 not out.
Renshaw, who has been in and out of Australia’s side in a 14-Test career across seven years, grabbed his chance at number three, cracking eight fours and a six.
