NEW DELHI: After Cameron Green‘s transfer from Mumbai Indians (MI) to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg expressed his opinion, deeming it a poor choice by RCB.
Hogg, via his official Instagram account, explained that RCB already boast a quality batting lineup and should have directed their spending towards strengthening their bowling attack.

The 52-year-old emphasised the importance of having outstanding bowlers in a franchise to defend totals and set up games effectively. Hogg concluded by suggesting that Green might have been a more suitable fit for another IPL club.

“Is he worth it? RCB, I am looking at their line-up. I think this is a poor choice. Nothing against Green’s talent. He was good for the Mumbai Indians last year. But if you look at RCB’s list, they spend big on their batting line-up. They don’t have enough cash there to spend on enough quality bowlers. If you want to win the IPL, you need quality bowlers to defend totals and set the games up. I think this is a poor choice from RCB and Green could have been suitable at some other club,” said Hogg.

Green, who was acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a significant sum of Rs 17.5 crore in the auction last December, played 16 matches for the team. The Australian all-rounder had an impressive IPL debut, amassing 452 runs, including an unbeaten century and two half-centuries, and also contributed with six wickets.
The trade to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been executed in accordance with the existing player fee.
This move aligns with Mumbai Indians’ successful completion of another notable all-cash deal, securing the services of all-rounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans.
As part of their squad restructuring, RCB have released Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, and Indian pacer Harshal Patel ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
