Producer Boney Kapoor, Sandip Ssingh, screenwriter Mushtaq Sheikh, and actress Raai Laxmi among others were seen arriving at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute in Mumbai after the passing of Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy on Tuesday evening.
According to the company statement, Subrata Roypassed away at 10.30 pm due to cardiorespiratory arrest following an extended battle with complications arising from metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes.He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute in Mumbai on Sunday after his health deteriorated.
He played a significant role in the establishment and growth of Sahara One Motion Pictures. Under the Sahara India Pariwar umbrella, Sahara One Motion Pictures became involved in film production and distribution.

Roy founded Sahara India Pariwar in 1978 as a small financial services provider. Over the years, the Sahara Group expanded its operations to include diverse sectors such as finance, real estate, infrastructure, hospitality, and media.

The Sahara Group recognized the potential and influence of the media and entertainment sector in India and sought to be a significant player in this space. Roy’s business acumen and strategic vision played a crucial role in the growth of Sahara One Motion Pictures, which focused on producing a diverse range of films across genres to cater to a broad audience.
