NEW DELHI: India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is quite pleased to see Virat Kohli rolling his arm over against Netherlands and it didn’t end up there as the modern-day great also picked up a wicket – after a long gap of seven years – to finish it with a perfect icing on the cake.
Kohli’s last international wicket came in the 2016 T20 World Cup against the West Indies.
The wrong-footed Kohli came up with a lovely set up on his IPL franchise RCB’s home ground to dismiss Dutch skipper Scott Edwards during the World Cup match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Lauding Kohli, Mhambrey said it was a nice set up by the ‘wrong footed in-swinging menace’ along with Team India wicket-keeper KL Rahul.
“It was a nice set up. It was lovely to see Virat’s wicket. I could see him adjusting the fine leg a little bit, looked at KL Rahul saying where he is going to bowl. It was a lovely set up. I had a chat with Rohit on how could we use Virat. With the new ball, he swings the ball and gives us that little bit in the powerplay,” Mhambrey told BCCI.TV in an interview.

Mhambrey doesn’t want to end it here as he now wants to go one step further by pushing Kohli to bowl in the death overs.
“The bigger challenge with Virat was the middle phase, which he has done in this game. He ticked that box as well. Now we are going to push him for the death, let’s see when that happens, but I am sure he does have that really nipping, sharp yorkers for the right-handed batters. I think we will see a little bit of that as well,” Mhambrey added.

Having emerged victorious in all their league stage matches, Team India is poised to face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the 2023 World Cup at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15.
