We have been able to shoot down six drones in a months times: BSF ADG | Amritsar News


AMRITSAR: Stating that despite being a challenge, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been effectively responding to the drone threat, P V Rama Sastry, Additional Director General (Western Command) , BSF, Chandigarh said that with the preventive measures taken by the force including installation of anti-drone technology, they had been able to bring down six drones in a months time.
While talking to media persons in Amritsar on Wednesday, Rama Sastry said: “we have been giving a good response to the drone intrusions, a day before yesterday we brought down two drones and in a month’s time we brought down a total of six drones”.
Giving details of their measures, he said their responses included technological and operational responses by way of meticulous analysis, identification of spots, and deployment of anti-drone systems or manpower or fire power.
“The combination of actions which is being taken is giving a success in recent past that and I am sure it will continue,” he said.
He said there had been several incidents when drones return. “In some cases, we have been able to shoot them down, or jam them while in other cases the drones return within two to three minutes due to quick response taken by BSF”. he said.
He further said that drones drop packages that were picked up adding that Punjab police had been able to identify some gangs post incidents and there had been some arrests too adding that the analysis of the drones they had got some vital clues that helped them track down the gangs.
Additional Director General said that they had been able to reduce the challenge with the combination of action by BSF and the coordinated response post instance with Punjab police. Eom
