Apple has launched multiple new products in 2021 that range from the 24-inch iMac to four new iPhone 13 models. The Cupertino giant has also bid farewell to some of the products that were released earlier. Here we have listed the products and accessories that were discontinued by Apple in the year 2021.
Apple announced that it was going to stop making the full-sized HomePods to focus its resources on the HomePod mini in March 2021. Although, Apple confirmed that it would keep on providing service, software updates and support for the full-sized one.
The larger HomePod was introduced in February 2018 and the reviews applauded the device for its sound quality. But, its original $349 (roughly around Rs 26,000) price was way more expensive than other rival smart speakers such as Google Home and Amazon Echo. The sales of this speaker didn’t improve even after Apple curtailed the price to $299 (almost around Rs 22,000).
Apple also stopped producing the iMac Pro along with the full-sized HomePod in the same month. The Cupertino giant stated that the 27-inch iMac was more popular among iMac users and also added that users who need more expandability and performance can opt for the Mac Pro.
The iMac Pro was released in 2017 and it received no significant hardware refreshes throughout its lifetime, which eventually made the 27-inch iMac getting faster and more affordable than the standard iMac Pro that was equipped with a 10-core Xeon W processor.
Although the iMac Pro has now been discontinued, Apple is expected to introduce a set of premium 27-inch iMacs with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips in 2022.
Space Gray Magic Accessories
Apple stopped selling Space Gray versions of the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse 2 separately for the Mac a few months after the iMac Pro was discontinued. Although, Apple is still selling the same accessories in silver.
Apple stopped producing its final 21.5-inch iMac model in October 2021. This model was available as a low-end configuration that suited most educational institutions. This discontinuation became inevitable as Apple introduced an ultra-thin 24-inch iMac that is powered by its home-designed M1 chip.
Apple is now left with three Intel-based Macs in its lineup which includes the premium Mac mini, the 27-inch iMac and the Mac Pro tower.
Apple stopped producing the iPhone XR after revealing the iPhone 13 series in September 2021. The iPhone XR was introduced in September 2018 and it featured a 6.1-inch LCD screen with Face ID, a single camera in the back and was powered by an A12 Bionic chip. The iPhone lineup now includes — four iPhone 13 models, five iPhone 12 models, the iPhone 11 and the second-gen iPhone SE.

Apple has also stopped selling the original Powerbeats, Beats EP headphones and Beats Solo Pro.
