Director Todd Phillips provided fans with a glimpse into the world of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, by sharing a pair of images, offering a fresh look at Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and Gaga’s Harley Quinn. “Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year.Oct 2024 #Joker2,” Phillips captioned the photos.
One of the images sees Arthur through a small window of his confinement cell in Arkham Asylum, prompting fans to speculate the hidden Easter eggs with the number “E258” above the window.
In another image, Gaga’s Harley Quinn is seen gazing at Arthur, who is seen back in his iconic maroon suit and his look complete with face paint.
While plot details remain under wraps, the released images suggest that the film will revolve around the complex relationship between Joker and Harley. The new photos could indicate that the scene plays out during the Joker’s initial meeting when Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist in Arkham, who goes on to become romantically entangled with him.
Unlike the critically acclaimed original, ‘Joker 2’ will be a musical. Fans initially expressed concerns about the sequel potentially diluting the impact of the original’s powerful narrative. However, Phillips, who co-wrote the sequel with Scott Silver, aims to build upon the success of the first film while introducing new elements.
The ensemble cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland in undisclosed roles, adding to the intrigue surrounding the project.
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ is slated for an October 4, 2024 release.
