UP police officer gunned down outside home | India News – Times of India



LUCKNOW: An Uttar Pradesh police officer was shot dead outside his house in Prayagraj in the presence of his wife and daughter early on Monday. Police said Satish Kumar (47) was shot by an unidentified assailant just as he, his wife Bhawna (45) and daughter Pakhi (10) stepping back into their house in Krishnanagar area after a Diwali visit to a relative’s house.
“The family had returned home around 2am.Satish got off his car. As he reached near the gates, an armed man came and shot him thrice,” a police officer said.
Satish was an inspector-rank officer posted at the 4th battalion of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), in Prayagraj.
“Satish slumped to the ground and died on the spot. I will never be able to overcome this trauma. My daughter is also in shock, unable to understand why her father was killed,” Bhawna said.
DCP (south zone) Vineet Jaiswal said Satish was taken to a government hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The murder sent shockwaves in the department. Colleagues described Satish as hardworking. Five probe teams have been formed. “So far, no enmity or property angle has emerged. We are taking all angles into account,” Jaiswal said.
